| Support Specialist & Software Developer |
I’m a Support Specialist with a background in software development, customer service, and operations management.
I’m also a father, a husband, and fellow human trying to spread some good in this chaotic world. Like so many, last year was a difficult one that included me being laid off in October as my employer sold off my division. Having moved up the ranks from entry-level customer service to the management of two teams, I now faced finding a new job for the first time in five years, and in a very different economic environment. After a couple of months of job-searching not working out, a friend of mine offered to teach me python for free for a few weeks, a couple of hours each week. During this time I discovered I enjoyed software development but I needed a more structured environment to both lay out a roadmap and hold me accountable. This is where General Assembly Software Engineering Immersive stepped in and true to their word, they immersed me in software development for 8-10 hours a day, five days a week, for three months. I built out four projects, each time taking on a new challenge such as adding a back-end, working with a team, and/or working with a new language. Since graduating in June, I have transitioned into General Assembly’s Outcomes Program, which involves continuing to practice my development skills, networking, and applying for jobs. I am currently seeking opportunities where I can combine years of customer-service experience and fresh development skills to create positive, innovative solutions and improve the quality of life for others.
